Employers added 339,000 jobs in May, an acceleration over upwardly revised job growth estimates for March and April and far outpacing analysts expectations.
Professional and Business Services led all other industries adding 64,000 jobs. Government (56,000) and Health Care (52,000) both added jobs at levels above their 12-month averages. Manufacturers shed 2,000 workers last month, but for the year employment levels have held relatively flat.
