Employers added 209,000 jobs in June, almost 100,000 fewer than last month and slightly below analysts' expectations.

Government led all industries adding 60,000 jobs. Health Care (41,000) and Social Assistance (24,000) both added jobs in line with their monthly averages for 2023. Manufacturers added 7,000 workers last month but hiring overall remains relatively flat this year.
