February 2022 US Talent Market Monthly

The U.S. labor market proved stronger than expected in January with the addition of 467,000 jobs. The strong jobs growth comes despite the surge of the omicron variant which left many expecting weak employment growth or even a decline. Annual seasonal adjustement revisions to 2021 data added a net 709,000 jobs to employment gains in December and November, but these upward adjustement were largely offset by additional revisions to earlier 2021 data. With the revisions, job creation in 2021 totaled 6.7 million. Overall, U.S. employment remains, down by around 2.9 million compared to pre-pandemic levels.
