    A prominent private university, located in the southwestern U.S., had a small HR team of 15 people struggling to support its growing workforce of full-time faculty and non-academic staff. Many of the university’s staff worked on a flexible, seasonal, or part-time basis — placing additional cyclical strains on the HR team. Limited resources and decentralized payroll services further increased compliance risks related to employee training, background screening, payroll, grant accounting, and evolving insurance requirements.

Our solutions have provided reliable, compliant payroll and HR support to hundreds of employees — including those who worked non-traditional schedules. A skilled on-site manager worked to collaboratively address seasonal hiring spikes and balance the fluctuating needs of multiple university departments. By utilizing a proprietary, automated time management and billing tool along with a custom microsite, Kelly enabled the university to improve visibility and automation for payroll, grant accounting reimbursement, timecard management, and employee assignments. 

    Result: 1,800+ employees supported; compliance roadblocks eliminated. 

    Since the start of the partnership, Kelly has supported the university’s evolving workforce by employing more than 1,800 employees across seasonal, part-time, and temporary roles. During the first year of the partnership, Kelly supported 395 employees, helping to stabilize staffing operations and strengthen compliance during periods of fluctuating demand. In the most recent fiscal year, Kelly maintained an average workforce of 374 employees, adjusting monthly staffing levels to meet seasonal needs. Through centralized payroll, time management, and on-site staffing support, Kelly has reduced compliance risk, improved grant accounting accuracy, and streamlined HR operations for a complex university environment.
