    Kelly BPO empowers foundry to handpick top performers to meet hiring goals

    High attrition puts foundry at risk during ramp cycles.

    A global semiconductor foundry faced challenges hiring and retaining the staff needed to meet fluctuating demand during new factory ramp. Without sufficient headcount, the foundry risked disruptions throughout the production process and missed output goals. Recently, when establishing its first United States-based location, the foundry partnered with Kelly®, a leading provider of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) solutions, to manage part of its workforce—which exceeded expectations. The foundry engaged Kelly for a solution to provide direct hires—during a predetermined time frame—to ramp and reduce attrition for a more sustainable
    workforce.

    Strategic recruiting and training program reduces cost and risk.

    Kelly created a custom program—complete with recruiting, onboarding, training, and payrollservices—to complement the existing outsourcing solution and convert top performers todirect hires. First, Kelly utilized their experienced recruiting team to find a group of employeeswithout previous experience in the industry and upscaled them to work in a specific area of thefactory. Then, once deployed, the foundry observed and evaluated the workers’ performance.Finally, the foundry selected top performers to fill direct-hire roles at a reduced conversion fee.

    89% of the direct-hire employees sourced through the program are still working with the company today.

    The company was extremely pleased with this new recruiting strategy, as it offered them a lower-cost solution with reduced risk. The employees who were not selected for direct hire weremoved into existing outsourcing roles at the factory, ensuring that the company still had amplestaffing coverage to meet their timelines. Currently, we have more than 260 Kelly employeeson-site with the company, with many holding over a year of tenure. Since implementing theprogram, 58 employees have been converted to direct hires with an average tenure of 205 days. Additionally, 89% of the direct-hire employees sourced through the trial program are still
    working with the company today.
