A nurse with positive energy
Laugene Cori Hasbach knows she’s a caring nurse, but she says it was the combination of her relationship with her Kelly® recruiter, her outstanding nursing skills, and her unfailingly positive attitude that helped her land her current job with the Florida Cancer Specialists in Sarasota, Florida.
Ana, Cori’s recruiter at Kelly, was looking for a nurse with experience in IV therapy and access ports who could bring positive energy to the job. She immediately thought of Cori—an experienced veteran of the healthcare industry who understands like no other how positive thinking can impact the healing process. What started out as a three-month assignment to replace another registered nurse who was on sick leave quickly turned into a full-time, direct-hire position for Cori.
Cori has been working with Ana since 2008 and is full of praise for her, describing her as caring, professional, respectful, and honest. She adds that she enjoys working with Kelly because there’s a human connection. “Sure, any recruiter can learn a lot about me from my résumé,” she explains. “But the recruiters at Kelly go the extra mile to capture what’s inside of you. And it’s that understanding that helps them find you the right match.”
“ANY RECRUITER CAN LEARN A LOT ABOUT ME FROM MY RÉSUMÉ. BUT THE RECRUITERS AT KELLY GO THE EXTRA MILE TO CAPTURE WHAT’S INSIDE OF YOU. AND IT’S THAT UNDERSTANDING THAT HELPS THEM FIND YOU THE RIGHT MATCH.”
Listen to Cori's story in her own words.
Today, Cori, a registered nurse who's also certified in holistic nursing, works with seriously ill cancer patients—many of whom only have months to live. Yet, she loves her job. “There’s a very positive energy in our workplace,” she says. “We believe that 50 percent of the healing process is attitude, so we encourage our patients to delete any negative thoughts and emotions and instead, focus on the positive. We have a very capable team with a wonderful head nurse who’s always there for us. It’s a very rewarding environment.”
The fact that Cori is bilingual and has a deep awareness of Hispanic culture also plays a role in her daily job. “Every day, I see Hispanic patients,” she says. “I speak the same language as they do; I share the same culture; and that makes it easier for them.” Add to that her complete dedication to her patients’ well-being, and it’s easy to see why she’s such an outstanding healthcare professional.
When asked why she does this kind of work that others might find difficult or draining, Cori says that what drives her is the wish to see her patients happy. Sometimes it’s a smile, sometimes it’s just a touch, but no matter how small the gesture, there’s nearly always something that lets her know she brought some peace and respite.
And that knowledge alone is her reward.
