National Nurse of the Year 2015

2015 NOTYTo recognize the significant contribution, hard work, and dedication of our nation's 2.7 million registered nurses - Kelly is pleased to honor Sandra Alcorta, RN, as our Nurse of the Year in conjunction with National Nurses Week. Mrs. Alcorta was selected from more than 3,000 Kelly nurses as this year's national winner for her professionalism, competence, and diligent work ethic.

A nurse for 40 years, Sandra has worked for Kelly® for the past four years in her role as an Apheresis nurse for the National Institute on Aging, part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She operates a cell separation machine that allows doctors to study human blood. Mrs. Alcorta stated, “Although I have worked as a pediatric nurse for the majority of my career, the position at Kelly has provided me the opportunity to work part-time with flexible hours after retirement and to expand my skills and experience in the non-patient care nursing occupation. Most nurses are not aware that you can have a long standing assignment at one organization through Kelly Services.”

Based on performance feedback from Kelly customers, the National Nurse of the Year award was developed to recognize Kelly nurses for their outstanding work in the healthcare industry.

“Non-traditional nursing careers have recently emerged due to technological growth and healthcare reform. Nursing today is no longer solely about caring for patients. It’s about technology, community-wide health management, and consistently improving the overall outcomes of a growing industry.” said Grace Fortuna, Kelly Chief Clinical Officer, Healthcare Product, Centers of Excellence.
